Rebecca Hillman
Rebecca joined Future's Venture as a Trustee in 2017, standing down to become an Advisor in 2019. She has mentored several artists and continues with support around Political Theatre. Rebecca is a writer, theatre maker and activist. Her teaching and research at the University of Exeter, where she works full-time as a lecturer in Drama, explores how activists harness cultural forms to make change in the world. She also seeks to contribute creatively to this project through her work with trade unions and campaign groups. Rebecca has written about theatre as a tool for community organising, housing and activism, the enduring relevance of agitprop theatre, and funding political art in the UK. She recently worked with Banner Theatre, Reel News, Townsend Productions and the General Federation of Trade Unions to establish a network of political artists, trade unionists and activist movements more broadly. She has a PhD from the University of Reading, which was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
