Dave Carter
Dave was the inaugural Chair of Trustees at our first meeting in 2015. He stood down at the end of last year, succeeded by Keisha Thompson. Dave Carter is Honorary Knowledge Exchange Fellow in Planning and Environmental Management at the University of Manchester and co-leads the smart cities research strand of the Manchester Urban Institute. Dave was Head of the Manchester Digital Development Agency, Manchester City Council, from 2004 to 2014 and prior to that Head of Economic Development for the city. He was a founder member of the Telecities network set up in 1993 and the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) set up in 2006. He has been Involved in European Future Internet and Smart Cities projects over the past 25 years, is a lifelong member of the Transport & General Workers Union/UNITE and a big science fiction fan. Currently Chair of the Manchester Digital Lab (MadLab) and the Manchester Digital Music Archive.
